2024 Qiskit Fall Fest at Korea University🎆

Welcome!

This is the event information page for the 2024 Qiskit Fall Fest at Korea University. Thank you for your interest and viewing this page! This event is sponsored by IBM Quantum and is organized and hosted by QUICK (Quantum Information Club at Korea University), an academic club for quantum information science at Korea University. This event is exclusively for Korea University students!
Qiskit is an open source quantum computing framework developed by IBM designed to make quantum computers accessible through cloud systems and to create quantum circuits.
The goal of this event is to help students who are not familiar with quantum computers to become interested in them. The event will be organized in the form of “Challenges”, where participants will be able to work with quantum computers by solving challenging problems step by step.
A “Challenge” is an event where you solve a set of problems posed by the organizers. The challenges will start with very basic problems that can be solved by students with no prior knowledge of quantum computing and will gradually increase in difficulty. Along with the problems, there will be explanations of what you need to know to solve them. As you work your way through the challenges with the help of these explanations, you will gain a basic understanding of how quantum computing works. Even before the Challenge, there will be workshops to introduce you to the field of quantum computing and teach you how to code with Qiskit.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2025 Qiskit Fall Fest at Korea University, and if you're not familiar with quantum computers, don't hesitate to sign up!
We would like to thank the Korea University Graduate School of Quantum for financial and administrative support.

Kickoff meeting

Session Details: 11/2/2024(Sat), online, 10:00~12:00
The kickoff meeting is the first time event organizers and event participants meet online. We will go over the detailed schedule of Qiskit Fall Fest at Korea University and what to expect. We will also touch lightly on the history of quantum computers and the need for them.

Qiskit Fall Fest Workshop 1: Introduction to Linear Algebra and Circuit Composition.

Session Details: 11/3/2024(일), online, 19:00~21:00
In this first workshop, we'll discuss the math background needed to understand how computation works on a quantum computer. We'll cover basic linear algebra, single-qubit and multi-qubit states. The workshop is designed so that you can understand the material even if you only know high school math, but it will be easier to understand if you have taken a first-year calculus course or have studied linear algebra.

Qiskit Fall Fest Workshop 2: What can we do with quantum computers?

Session Details: 11/5/2024(Tue), online, 19:00~21:00
The second workshop will cover what we can do with quantum computers from a quantum algorithm perspective: we'll talk about Grover's Algorithm, Quantum Teleportation, and more.

Qiskit Fall Fest Workshop 3: Researcher Invitational Workshop

Session Details: 11/7/2024(Thu), Innovation Hall 117, 18:00~21:00
In the third workshop, we will introduce what we can do with quantum computers and what are the research areas related to quantum computers. We will invite researchers who are working in the field of quantum information science. They will give an introduction to their field and introduce the projects they have been working on using quantum computers.

Qiskit Fall Fest Workshop 4: How to use Qiskit

Session Details: 11/9/2024(Sat), online, 10:00~12:00
The fourth workshop describes how to set up the Qiskit development environment and run quantum circuits on IBM's quantum computers and simulators.

Qiskit Fall Fest Workshop 5: What do you have to prepare before starting the challenge?

Session Details: 11/12/2024(Tue), online, 19:00~21:00
In the fifth workshop, we'll walk through the types of challenge problems that will be presented at the Challenge event on Friday, November 15, and work through example challenge problems. We'll also recommend resources for learning about Qiskit and quantum computing before the Challenge event.
